Nurse Practitioner who can prescribe.
Nurse Practitioner can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, cervical smears and blood pressure checks. She also runs clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, coronary heart disease, stroke, Learning Disability. She can also prescribe within her remit.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Advanced Nurse Practitioner can see, assess and treat patients independently as the GP does. They cannot sign Med 3’s (sick notes) or certify deaths. They cannot treat pregnancy related conditions. However, they can treat non-pregnancy related conditions in pregnant women.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice and blood pressure checks The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes and carry out cervical smears.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
